Madison County Emergency Medical Services is a career department
providing emergency medical care to the citizens of Madison County,
Virginia since January of 2000. Madison County is nestled against the
Blue Ridge Mountains in central Virginia.
Madison County EMS is available seven days a week from 5:00 am
to 6:00 pm by dialing 911. Every staff member holds an advanced life
support certification as well as vehicle rescue certification.
Additionally, most are trained in at least one technical rescue
discipline.
Madison County EMS is one of the most progressive services in
the country. Under the direction of Dr. Bill Brady
at the University of Virginia Medical Center, MEMS providers routinely perform paramedic
interpreted 12-lead EKG's, rapid sequence induction (RSI), surgical
cricothyrotomy, and Quicktrac airway access on standing orders. In
addition, Madison County EMS medics have dozens of different medications
that can be administered on standing orders.
